Several visits were made to the site, walking through it and the proposed narrative - which was initially very loose. Scribbling notes, loose sketches and taking photo's for refernce as the best way to get a feel of the place and how the narrative might unfold.
Generating ideas was easy, ther hard part was working out which ones were actually workable.
Each visit resulted in these ideas being honed or abandoned for something more workable.
Time spent visiting galleries and installations is always useful. I went to places where I knew, due to the nature of the building that there would be limitations on what could be achieved; a trip to the Hatton Gallery, part of Newcastle University was particularly illuminating.
Technical research was/ remains never ending, and I researched probably over a 100 sites and technical documents. Technologies and processes change all of the time but for those interested in the area, here are a few key resources.
